Description | Early games would logically have been played at the Fair Grounds. 1863 and 1867 city maps locate the Fair Grounds between Jackson and Illinois Streets, south of (then) 10th Street. This location is where the modern Expo Center is located. In 1875 games were played near the Belleville Nail Mills. See St. Louis Globe Democrat, Aug. 15, 1875. This would be the modern South Side Park, 600 S. 6th St. In the 1880s baseball was played here by the Waugh Mill, Union, and OK clubs. |
