July 7th paper....no account of a base ball game on July 4th .... no further base ball news in 1872 Detroit Lakes est. 1871.....population in 1890 was 1,510 with a high of 8,569 in 2010. It is about 200 miles NW of Minneapolis and about 45 miles E of Fargo ND. Known as Detroit in its early years....name changed to Detroit Lakes to avoid confusion with the Michigan city....
