Description | The Davenport Daily Gazette, Oct. 22, 1866, reports that the Wapello Base Ball Club of Rock Island just returned from a baseball tournament in Peoria, beating the Enterprise of Peoria. Gives a box score. Same Sept. 5, 1867 has the Wapello and Lively Turtle as two of the teams playing in the Rock Island County Fair. The Chicago Tribune, July 27, 1867, has an extensive article on the State base ball convention. Among the clubs sending delegates were the Lively Turtle and Wapello of Rock Island. |
