The Savannah Republican, April 19, 1845, p. 3, reports on city council proceedings, with one alderman proposing:

"The the Marshall be required to place on the Identification Docket, all persons whom he shall find engaged in [throwing up fireballs], or playing base ball in the squares and streets of the city, to the inconvenience of the citizens."
