Description | The Chicago Tribune, July 27, 1867, has an extensive article on the State base ball convention. Among the clubs sending delegates was the Wenona of Wenona. The New Rutland club beat Wenona at Wenona, June 20, 1867. Lacon Home Journal, June 26, 1867. The Ottawa Free Trader Aug. 19, 1871, says that during the county fair, "the Wenona base ball club will play the Shabbonas of Ottawa for a purse of one hundred dollars." Wenona had 879 residents in 1870. |
