Description | The Alton Telegraph, Aug. 18, 1871 reports that the Resolute BBC of Buck Inn defeated the Mule Whackers of New Pittsburg 61-45. Same June 20, 1873 reports that the Clippers of Greenwood defeated the Little Belts of Delhi (In Jersey County) 50-18. Same Sept. 19, 1873 says the Clippers defeated the Independents of Edwardsville 45-38 for the county championship. Buck Inn and Greenwood were early names for North Alton, which was absorbed by Alton in the 1900s. |
