Description | The Grand Forks [ND] Herald, Aug. 19, 1887, under the headline "Base Ball Notes," reports on a 4th of July celebration in Towner: "A large number of citizens of Minot came over and brought their baseball club to play the Towner nine." The humorous article goes on to relate how the Minot pitcher was so wild he beaned everybody, causing a fight. Minot was founded in 1886 as a railhead city, and incorporated July 28, 1887. |
