Description | "Base Ball- The Base Ball Club of this city are now hard at work preparing for the match game to which they have challenged the Victorians. The ground selected for the game is on Chambers Prairie, near the house of Mr. Jacob Smith. It is a very pretty spot, and one well adapted to the purpose intended. The Victorians are expected up on the North Pacific, to leave Victoria on Tuesday, the 2nd of July. On the following day the game will be played, commencing probably at eleven o'clock and lasting about four hours. From what we hear we should judge the two Clubs much more equally matched than were those of three years ago, on the occasion of the last match game. The Victorians are practicing, becoming daily more formidable, and if the Olympians do not suffer a second defeat, they will have to play a remarkably good game.-Olympia Tribune" |
