| Description | (return game - 8 innings) (Troy Daily Whig: “The fielding and batting on the part of the Whitehall Club, was superior to that displayed by them on the occasion of a former match on their own grounds, and was very creditable, but the Victorys had also improved and the result of the game was not very different from that of the former contest. … At the conclusion of the match Mr. Bascom presented the ball and Dr. Hegeman accepted it. The Whitehallers went home in very good spirits, and their opponents pay a high tribute to their skills and gentlemanly qualities. It must be remembered that the Victorys are rather of the invincible order.—They are without doubt the strongest club out of the Metropolis.”) |
