Description | In 1867 and 1868 the Vicksburg teams (Hill City, MS Valley, Star) all seemed to play at a field near Reading's Foundry. See Vicksburg Herald, Feb. 5, 1867, March 18, 1868, Oct. 15, 1868, inter alia). The foundry of Abram B. Reading (1813-87) produced cannon for the CSA during the Civil War. It was located on the corner of Washington and First Sts., per the 1860 city directory. Another foundry was at Levee and Depot Sts. |
