Description | Peter Morris et. al., eds., "Base Ball Pioneers, 1850-1870," p. 333, says that Oakland had a Live Oak BBC in 1866, and a Wide Awake BBC in 1867. The Daily Alta California, April 24, 1866 reports a game between the Live Oak of Oakland and the City College of San Francisco, the 3rd of a series, won by Oakland 84-39. [ba] Oakland CA had a population of about 1,500 in 1860 and 10,500 in 1870. |
