Description | The Laborette, July 8, 1885 and the Carbon County Journal, July 11, 1885 report on a game between the Olympics of Rawlins and the club of nearby Fort Steele. the game was called after 4 innings due to rain. The [Rawlins] Wyoming Tribune, June 10, 1886: "The members of the Rawlins base ball club have received their new suits and appeared in them for the first time Sunday. They played with a picked nine and beat them..." Salt Lake City Tribune, July 16, 1891: Rawlins played at Laramie Saturday afternoon. "Owing to alleged partiality in the rulings of the umpire, the Laramie nine left the field in the seventh inning and the game was awarded to Rawlins." Same, July 30, 1891, says Laramie will play Rawlins on Aug. 2 in Cheyenne "for the state championship." Rawlins was incorporated in 1886. |
