Description | The Vinita Indian Chieftain, Sept. 16, 1886, says Russell Creek beat Prairie City at Prairie City "last Saturday." Same, Aug. 25, 1887: "The Melrose and Prairie City base ball clubs began playing a match game on the 6th inst., near Frank Allen's on Cool Creek..." After two innings the Prairie City club left the field due to "the rank and unfair decisions of the umpire." Russell Creek is in Craig County, OK, near Vinita. Prairie City was in Indian Territory. It is not the ghost town in KS. It was near Grand River aka Wyandotte. |
