Description | The Army/Navy Journal vol. 20 p. 1034, reports that "Fort Keogh..... was made lively last week by an interesting base ball tournament between a picked nine of that post and the 'Hatch nine' of Fort Custer." The event happened 1882 or 1883. In 1884 the Princeton University club played a Fort Keogh nine. New York Clipper, July 26, 1884. The Miles City Weekly Yellowstone Journal, July 24, 1879 mentions the Miles City BBC playing the Fort Keough BBC. Fort Keogh (founded 1876) was just south of modern Miles City, MT. It had 600 residents in 1880. |
