Description | The Blackfoot Register, May 19, 1883: "Eagle Rock Notes...the boys are getting excited on base ball. they have played two match games, the stakes being beer, bats and balls." The Eagle Rock Idaho Register, June 20, 1885: "Base Ball. Pocatello vs. Eagle Rock." Announces a match game "tomorrow" on the Eagle Rock team grounds. Same June 27, 1885 says Pocatello won this rather one-sided game 27 to 7. Same July 4, 1885 announces that a base ball game will be part of the Fourth of July celebration, with Eagle Rock playing some unnamed professionals. Same April 17, 1886 carries an ad from a local store saying it just received baseball equipment for sale. Eagle Rock changed its name to Idaho Falls when the city was incorporated in 1891. The first settlement on the site was in 1864. |
