Description | "The repeated failure of the Casper base ball club to come down and play that second game with the Douglas nine gives rise to the painful suspicion that one dose was enough." [Douglas] Barlow's Budget, July 31, 1889. The [Casper] Wyoming Derrick, May 21, 1890: "Steps are being taken for the organization of a base ball club. There is no reason why Casper should not put out a winning team in the field." The evidently improved. The Cheyenne Daily Leader, July 23, 1904, headlines "Casper Claims State Base Ball Supremacy." The newspaper scoffs at the claim, noting that Casper hasn't played the really good state teams in 2 years. Casper was founded in 1888. It had 544 residents in 1890. |
