Description | The Miles City Daily Yellowstone Journal, July 4, 1886: Billings, M.T., July 3--The game between the Livingston and Billings clubs was closed in the eighth inning this afternoon, the score standing Billings 60; Livingston 23." The same, Aug. 7, 1887, and the Philipsburg Mail, Aug. 11, 1887, report on "a match base ball game at Billings last Saturday between the Livingston and Billings nines." It seems the game was tied at 28 when the Livingston team walked off the field, in protest of the umpire's bias and incompetence. The ump then awarded the game to Billings in a 9-0 forfeit. Billings was founded in 1882. |
