Description | The Abingdon Virginian, May 17, 1867 reports that a baseball club was formed in the town May 13. Same, Nov. 1, 1867 reports that on Nov. 2 the Abingdon club will play the Herculean Club of Emory and Henry College. The “Athletics” of Bristol lost to the Abingdon club 73-36 at King College “last Saturday.” Bristol News, May 26, 1874. Abington VA (1870 pop., 715--current pop. about 8000) is in SW VA near the Tennessee border. King College is in Bristol TN, very near the VA border. |
