| Sources | Boise "Idaho Statesman" July 13, 1869 Transcription 1: THE NATIONAL GAME-A meeting held this dayby several of our athletic citizens resulted in the organization of the Capital Base Ball Club, by choosing Charles Himrod President, C. D. Vajen Secretary and J. C. Geer Treasurer. The following persons comprise the charter members, (first nine) of the club: J. C. Geer, Charles Himrod, ---- Cuddy, T. E. Logan, Earl Race, C. D. Vajen, E. Rayner, A. V. Bradley and Edward Pugh. It was moved and carried that inasmuch as paddles and balls could be readily obtained, that a practice game be played on Saturday evening July 10th, at six o'clock. Charles Himrod, President. C. D. Both Rayner and Geer had worked at the Idaho Legislature, Geer in at least 1867, and Rayner in at least 1869. Transcription 2: BASE BALL-The Capital Club enjoyed their first game on last Saturday evening in the public square. Several members are well versed in the rules of the game, [xxxx] ere long we may expect a (beavy) challenge thrown out by the "Capital" [xxxx]ny other "nine" that may be or may hereafter come into existence in this Territory.
