Text	Sporting Life 1905-11-25 includes "Played Base Ball In 1825," a Nov 17 report from Yonkers NY. Yonkers Statesman editor John W. Oliver claims clear recall of "how the game was played from 1825 to 1835 in Baltimore. He said it was known as base ball as far back as 1825, and that the players ran bases just as they do now." I suppose the latter refers to a square run counterclockwise with the first base line 45 degrees off the path home to the pitcher --ie, the "diamond" run counterclockwise.
