(New York Clipper: “The Young Canadian base ball club, held their third annual meeting on Tuesday, April 22d, at the El Dorado Hotel, when the following persons were elected as officers for the ensuing year: President, C. L. Wood; Vice President, C. Clyde; Secretary and Treasurer, R. Douglass; Directors, D. McKay, D. Clyde, and Jas. Shuttleworth.  The club has adopted the ‘catch on the fly’ in their practice games.  The young Canadians began play for the season on Monday, April 28th, and turned out strong; the first nine all being present.”)
