Description | The Sturm Base Ball Club of Tazewell is mentioned in an May 3, 1867 article in the Nashville American as being represented in a meeting (at Chattanooga) of the state association of baseball on May 1st. Sturm was a Union army veteran who founded the club. Tazewell TN (current pop. about 2150)is about 50 miles NE of Knoxville and about 10 miles S of the TN/KY border in the state's NE corner. |
