Description

The Montgomery Weekly Advertiser, May 7, 1867, reports that the Montgomery BBC was organized last Wednesday. Same May 21, 1867 gives the names of the players. Their early playing field was "just in front of Pope's Row, near the cemetery." Pope's Row is described in a book as near the cemetery, east of Lower Wetumpka Road, and now part of the City Lot.

The Montgomery Advertiser, May 3, 1867, reports it was formed May 1 with 27 members. H. W. Hitchcock elected president..

The Mobile Register, Nov. 24, 1868 reports on a game at the State Fair between the Montgomery Club and the Capitol City Club, won by the former 37-15.

The New York Clipper, Oct. 29, 1870 has a Montgomery County Club (presumably the same club) defeating the Bonnie Blues 36-26, and the Sevilles of Pensacola 66-16.
