Comment | The Bergen County Democrat of 9/10/1869 says the Mutual and Arena Clubs played a game at Red Mills on 9/1 without mentioning where the teams were from. Red Mills was an area along the Saddle River not far from Hackensack. Since the paper was headquartered in Hackensack and it's unlikely a small area like Red Mills could support one team, much less two, it seems likely the two teams were Hackensack teams.
