|Text=<p>There are conflicting accounts of when base ball arrived in Rochester.  According to the <u>Rochester Democrat and Chronicle</u> (August 6, 1869), the town's first team, the Live Oak Club, had formed in 1857. A member of the club, quoted in 1903, also gave 1857 as the inaugural year, noting that the club "played unnoticed" that season. [Rochester Post Express, May 1, 1902.]</p>
