Description

Bill Swank, Baseball in San Diego (Arcadia, 2005), page 11, says a man named Ullman organized two nines which on May 6, 1871 played a game "on the plaza in New Town" (now, Horton Plaza).

This was Louisiana-born Daniel Ullman (1848-1921), who later headed the Los Angeles Gas Works.
