Description	The New York Clipper, March 20, 1858: "A Club entitled the San Francisco Base Ball Club has been formed in that city, and the following gentlemen chosen officers: R. Robinson Jr., President; D. W. Crane, Vice President; H. Van Pelt, Secretary; Chas. P. Plummer, Treasurer; D. Driscoll, Corresponding Secretary." Given the slowness of communication from California to New York in those days, this club may have been formed in 1857.
