Description | The Memphis Daily Avalanche, Jan. 27, 1860, reports that the day before, the actors at the Memphis Theater went out and played a game of baseball. Players Whalley, Griffiths, Dawson and Murdoch are mentioned, as part of the troupe of Barry Sullivan. Same Feb. 14, 1860 says that last Friday (the 10th) the same people, "organized by attaches of the New Memphis Theater" and calling themselves the Wickersham BBC, played another game. Same Feb. 9, 1860 calls Sullivan the Great English actor, who starred in Henry IV at the theater. Griffiths is his co-star. Dawson was the stage manager at the theater. |
