Description | David Sansing, The University of Mississippi. A Sesquicentennial History, p. 140, says [Ole Miss] “students organized a baseball club in the early 1870s.” The Semi-Weekly Clarion (of Jackson) Oct. 22, 1872 mentions the University Base Ball Club of Oxford. Oxford MS (pop. about 19,000) is in northern MS, about 150 miles N of Jackson and about 50 miles SE of Memphis TN. |
