The Rutland Weekly Herald notes: "The fat men of Whitehall have organized a base ball club, and issued a challenge to any club whose great weight is not more than 600 pounds more of 300 pounds less than the aggregate of their club to play a game. Another club of lean ones has been improvised there who offer to play for the suppers."
