Description	The Petersburg Progress-Index, July 13, 1872 reports on a game the day before for the "championship of Virginia" (which the paper claimed the Old Dominion of Petersburg had won by beating the Arlingtons of Norfolk) in which the Appomattox of Petersburg defeated the Old Dominion 20-18. Same Aug. 28, 1872 has the Appomattox losing to the Piedmont of Lynchburg at Lynchburg.
