Description | The San Francisco Chronicle, Sept. 18, 1870: "A game of base ball was played September 15th between the first nine of the Opposition and the second nine of the Aetna Base Ball Club." The Opposition won by 7 runs. The same issue reports that the 2nd nine of the Opposition played "the first nine of the Pythian Base Ball Club." Again, the Opposition won. |
