Description | The Mobile Dramatic lost to the Lone Star 92 to 7. The game was widely reported. See Savannah Daily News, April 11, 1867, New Orleans Times, April 13, 1867 (citing the Mobile Register of the 11th). Mobile AL is on the Gulf of Mexico and near the Mississippi border. Mobile's population was about 29,000 in 1860, making it the 4th largest CSA city and the 27th largest in the US. Mobile's cotton exports were second only to New Orleans in the 1840s. The Dramatic Club's grounds were probably where the modern Spanish Plaza is in downtown Mobile, off Court St. |
