Description	“Letter from Louisa [June 6] …A match game of base ball took place here last Saturday afternoon between a club in this county and the Gordonsville club, the latter being victorious. The Star club of this town was beaten not long since by the Gordonsville club.” Petersburg Index Appeal, June 10, 1878. Gordonsville VA (current pop. about 1,500) is about 20 miles NE of Charlottesville VA. Louisa VA (current pop. about 1,400) is about 14 miles SE of Gordonsville.
