Description
The following year, a team from Ogdensburg travelled to Ottawa for a game on Dominion Day (July 1), which is Canada's national holiday. This time, the Ottawa side seems to have fared a little better (although the final score is not given). I have kept their various capitalizations:

The Base Ball game between Ogdensburg and Ottawa, on Dominion Day, was called on the eighth inning, and decided in favor of Ogdensburg by eight tallies. The ground was very uneven, and the game did not commence till 4 p.m., owing to the grounds being in possession of the LaCrosse game. On the third inning Ottawa led 24 tallies, but the Burgers rallied and came off victorious. The reception our boys received from Ottawa was princely and the supper provided most magnificent. They all come home with the greatest admiration for the people of the Capital of the Dominion, and unable to find words to express their good feeling.
Comment

The Ottawa Times, July 1, 1868, says two lacrosse teams were to play that day on the "Sandy Hill grounds." Sandy Hill was and is a district west of the canal, opposite downtown. Was this the venue for the baseball game?
