Description

Yellwoknife is the capital of the NWT. Founded in 1936 as a mining town, tshe mining companies there sponsored baseball teams. A photo of a 1963 team is at nwtarch.ca. According to one memoir, the companies actively recruited amateur players from more southern climes to work and play for the teams.

There may have been baseball here earlier than 1963.

Yellowknife has a slopitch association today (2021)
