Description

The Helena Weekly Herald Sept. 17, Oct. 1 and Oct. 15, 1868 reported on the doings of the Rising Sun and Osceola BBCs of Fort Ellis. It appears soldiers made up the players of both teams. They played three match games, the first won by Osceola 45 to 35, the latter two won by the Rising Sun 28-15 and 30-15. The last was played on Oct. 4th, and the Osceola left the field after 3-1/2 innings.

In the 9-17 edition, the Rising Sun challenged the Occidental and Rocky Mountain BBCs of Helena to a match game.

Fort Ellis is 3 miles west of the present-day Bozeman, MT.
