Description

Two St. Marys College clubs, the Chiefs and the Stars, played baseball on May 19 and 26, 1878, the Chiefs winning both times.

St. Marys was founded in 1866. Baseball was played at the college as early as 1874. See Hornbaker, "Turning the Black Sox White" p. 8-9.

Future White Sox owner Charles Comiskey attended St. Marys 1874-75, but he is not listed in the box scores of these games.
