Description | Cesar Gonzalez Gomez, "March, Conquest, and Play Ball: The Game in the Mexican-American War, 1846-1848," Base Ball, Fall 2011, pp. 13-22 cites the diary of Adolph Engelmann of Illinois as saying his unit had played ball in Saltillo that week. It is probable that this was a predecessor "town ball" type game rather than the NY game. |
