Description | The club is said to have been formed in 1887. By 1896 they were being heralded as the top club in the country. See the Mexico Herald, Feb. 11, 1896. The Two Republics, Aug. 5, 6, 11, 1887 reports on the formation of the Mexico Baseball Association on Aug. 10. H. A. True was elected chairman, and R. M. de Arozarena was a member of the board. The association included the Mexico, Railroad and City BBCs. Same Aug. 28, 1887 mentions a game between the City and Toltec BBCs (mostly Anglos) on the Mexico Central RR grounds, Rafael M. de Arozarena was an executive with several local railroads. An 1899 game of the Mexico Club was played at Indianilla Park in Mexico City. Another game was scheduled for the "la Piedad" bicycle track. Same, March 1, 13, 1899 |
