Text | Several of the batsmen would indicate to the pitcher that they wanted a ball about waist high, and then strike at one about as high as their shoulders, or one nearly touching the ground. And in these circumstances, an umpire has no power to call balls, except in such cases as balls sent widely out of reach. |
