Text | Weston D. Fisler is to be given a trial at first-base by the Philadelphias, and, in the event of his declining to pay professionally again, Roberts, the Rockford amateur, it is thought can fill the position. Fisler, who gave up playing in 1878, was connected with the Athletics for thirteen successive seasons, and had but few equals as a general player, being a magnificent batsman and thrower, while able to field finely in almost any position, especially at first-base, which he guarded in over five hundred games. |
