Text | [reporting on the AA meeting of 3/12/1883] The section covering umpires and their duties was nearly reconstructed. According to the changed system the Association appoints four umpires and two substitutes, who are paid $140 and expenses, and wear a regulation blue uniform and cap, like the Pullman palace car conductors, except that the cap of the latter is white. |
