Text | [New York vs. Brooklyn picked junior nines 10/07/1864] Mr. Snow made a first rate Umpire, giving thoroughly impartial and correct decisions throughout. We were glad to see him refuse to call strikes on a Brooklyn player when he struck at a ball purposely to strike out. Such discreditable action ought to be promptly rebuked on all occasions. No matter what the other side may do, the only proper rule to follow is to play a manly and fair game throughout, be the result what it may. |
