Text | [St. Louis v. Athletic 8/3/1875] In the fifth the Athletic had a chance to score, and would have done so had Eggler exercised the least judgment in running. He was on second when Clapp hit to right field, and Eggler, thinking he would not get beyond third, came along lazily, but discovering his mistake, tried for home, and would have got there had he dropped down, but he did not. |
