Text | [a correspondent suggests a formal championship ball] A suggestion similar to the above was advanced at the last meeting of the National Association, but it was received with no favor, and for the reason that it was doubted whether the plan proposed would add anything of interest to base ball. Matches, except with the club holding the champion ball, would sink into insignificance, and the popularity of the game would therefore decline. |
