Text | The Counsel Committee of City Property met on the 7th to consider the leasing of the Athletic Base Ball ground, which is city property. The club had but a one-year lease, for which it paid $1,000 per annum rent. In order to receive a three years' lease, which would obviate the yearly renewal, the club offered $2,000 per annum. This offer was accepted by the committee and the three years' lease granted, subject to a proviso that should the new Central High School building be built before 1887, the possession of the grounds is to revert to the city on three months' notice. This disposes of a vexations subject, and the mangers can now rest easy without disturbing dreams about the old chartered club. |
