Text | The Louisville (Ky.) Club, the new professional organization, has filed its papers of corporation, and is now looking for talent for the season of 1876. the club is founded on a very solid bases, and, having a large capital to start on, $20,000, and solid men to back it, it starts in under as favorable auspices as any club in the country. Louisville has always had the reputation of having a fine amateur organization, and now she proposes to bed steep for a professional team that will rank high in the championship list. W. W. Haldeman, President of The Courier-Journal Company, has been elected president; Charles E. Chase, vice-president; and T. B. Cratcher, one of Louisville's solid iron merchants, secretary. Harry Wright was offered $5,000 to manage the new club, but declined the tempting offer. |
