Text | [Baltimore vs. Athletic 6/17/1867] The crowd of men on the field were very noise, many being disposed to be violent in their language. While the game was progressing small stones fell in the left field, rendering the Baltimoreans exceedingly nervous, and causing York to drop two easy flies. A strong police force was present but made no attempt to suppress the cowardly actions of the Philadelphia roughs. |
