Text | We had almost begun to congratulate ourselves that the friendly and good advice which we took the time and trouble to give the Athletics, would in many instances be thankfully accepted, but, (and it always seems to be the way with this astonishingly mismanaged organization,) they prefer to add still further to their many foolish acts. We have received the following letter from our once dear friend, Mr. Elias Hicks Hayhurst: ... The article in yesterday’s “All-Day City Item” is so unjust in its sentiments, and so universally condemned by out Members and all Good Men,” as being the expressions of a most “Bitter Enemy,” that I am compelled to ask you to return the “Free Pass to our Grounds,” and at the same time to inform you the representatives of the “Item” will not be permitted seats in our Reporter’s Stand. [A resume follows of the good advice Fitzgerald had given over the years.] |
